Our GRA, Tanzoom Ahmed, wrote the following summary of our new book displays on illicit trade and terrorism. Stop by the library to check out some of these great books and DVDs!

The Arlington Campus Library has a new book display inspired by on-campus events. This display focuses on the events sponsored by the Terrorism, Transnational Crime and Corruption Center (TraCCC) housed here at the Arlington Campus. TraCCC works to understand the links between terrorism, transnational crime and corruption. The center’s work is not limited to academic research but has a much broader reach as they research and formulate policy on these crucial topics.

Last month TraCCC co-hosted a panel to mark the publication of Convergence: Illicit Networks and National Security in the Age of Globalization , an event which elaborated on the illicit networks that challenge the sovereignty of states and dug deeper by talking about the proliferation, convergence and the diversification of these networks. Convergence is freely available online and linked above.

This coming week, TraCCC will host a brown bag lunch on the Geography of Terrorism, a talk by GMU professor Richard Medina. More information about the event can be found at the above link.

We here at ACL decided to highlight the works of the center by putting up a book display focusing on Terrorism, Transnational Actors and Human Trafficking. We encourage students here to read more on this topic by grabbing a book from our display while attending the TraCCC events hosted on campus.
